This experience promotes sustainable food experiences, small scale farmer interactions or responsible consumption and educates our guests on the importance of natural ecosystems or wildlife conservation, and contributes to their restoration or repopulation. During a stay at Bisate, one of the Bisate agronomists will show you around the tree nursery and help you plant a sapling as part of our reforestation project.
Day 1 - Kigali
On arrival at Kigali Airport, you will be met by a Lion World Travel representative and transferred by private road transfer to The Retreat.
The Retreat is a 20-room luxury boutique hotel set in the vibrant heart of Kigali.
During your stary you have a complimentary 30 minute massage and one 30 minute cultural activity – choose from cocktail making, local drumming and dance class, banana wine demo or a cooking class.

Day 2 - Kigali
Depart on a Kigali City Tour including lunch. Visit the Genocide Memorial, a permanent memorial for victims of the genocide of 1994.

Day 3 - Kigali/Akagera National Park
Drive to the Akagera National Park and the exclusive Magashi Camp where you will find six luxury tents that are perched on the shore of Lake Rwanyakazinga.
Later in day, depart on an evening game drive in the park, to view to lions, rhinos, and an abundance of plains game roaming over its gently rolling hills and open savannah.

Day 4 - Akagera National Park
Enjoy a full day of game drives in the Akagera National Park. Watch elephants submerge in Lake Rwanyakazinga. Go in search of lions, leopards, and black rhinos. Safari by boat on the lake, Drive across scenic landscapes to view wildlife like buffalo, zebra and antelope herds, a journey of giraffes and an abundance of birds.

Day 5 - Akagera National Park/Volcanoes National Park
Take a private helicopter transfer to Bisate Lodge located in the natural amphitheatre of an eroded volcanic cone with dramatic views of the peaks of the volcanoes Bisoke and Karisimbi. There are six luxurious en-suite villas that reflect the culture of rural Rwanda and offer comfort and amazing views.
There are many activities to enjoy at the lodge and you will also have a vehicle and driver at your disposal.
On property activities include guided birding and nature walks, guided nursery visit and indigenous tree planting, guided visit to the community beehive project that is support by the lodge and guided walks to the surrounding communities.

Day 6 - Volcanoes National Park
Depart on a Gorilla Tracking adventure. This is a physically demanding hike that rewards you with the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery. It is said that this is one of the most profound experiences in the world, once the gorillas are located.

Day 7 - Volcanoes National Park/Nyungwe Forest National Park
Depart with a packed lunch on a morning Golden Monkey trek. View this beautifully colored primate, which is endemic to the area and lives in groups of up to 80 individuals in the forest.
Later you will transfer by road to One&Only Nyungwe House, a secluded rainforest hideaway. The stunning Nyungwe National Park accommodation offers a one-of-a-kind escape, bordering one of Africa’s oldest rainforests.

Day 8 - Nyungwe Forest National Park
Today you will go on a Chimp Trek. With an early start, your expert guide will lead you into the heart of the jungle, on the trail of chimpanzees. Very soon you will spot chimpanzees gazing down from the trees or catapulting off through the canopy. Every trek is different, and the jungle’s charismatic chimpanzees are full of surprises.

Day 9 - Depart
Today you can take a canopy walk, depending on your departure flight time.
Suspended above a ravine in the lush rainforest, the canopy walkway along a suspension bridge, provides an exhilarating perspective on the ancient treetops and wildlife.
Transfer to Kigali to connect with your departure flight. (B, L)
