Day 2 - Sossusvlei

Today it is a short flight to reach your destination, the perfect gateway to the iconic sights of Sossusvlei. Sossusvlei boasts the highest sand dunes in the world, constantly being reshaped and reformed by the wind. On rare occasions in years of extreme rainfall, the valley, lined with huge camel thorn trees, and the Sossusvlei depression may fill up with water, creating a pool that reflects the surrounding dunes and gnarled trees.

Here you can experience magnificent views of the famous dunes, surrounding mountains and vast open plains at Kulala Desert Lodge. Each unit is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breezes. On balmy nights, sleep under the clear night skies on your rooftop and awaken to the rising sun.
