In partnership with the TreadRight Foundation, you will visit the Iraq al-Amir Women’s Coopertive where you will see the power of sustainable development in action. As many as 150 women from surrounding villages have been trained by the cooperative, which produces and sells heritage handicrafts for the tourism industry. You will learn about the cooperative’s goal to become a sustainable business and the stories of the women who the cooperative continues to help become financially independent.

Most countries and airlines require proof of a negative Covid PCR test. As your safari experts, we know their requirements and will take care of scheduling tests during your travels in Jordan, so that it’s conveniently planned into your itinerary and taking into consideration that results take between 24-72 hours. Day 1 - Arrive Amman, Jordan

Day 2 - Amman

After breakfast today your will depart on a City tour of Amman, including a visit to Iraq Al Amir. Iraq al-Amir is the name shared by a town and nearby caves, within the municipality of Amman in the Jordan Valley. Located about 9 miles southwest of the town of Wadi as-Seer, it has a population of about 6,000 people, mostly members of the tribe of Abbadi. It is located on the hills and the area has many springs, and is famous for its olive trees, in addition to other forest trees. There are many caves in the hills which were inhabited during the Copper Age.

Afterwards, visit a local Women’s Association to learn how they make soap from olive oil and greeting cards from recycled paper. Then enjoy a meal prepared by the local women. You will continue to Jerash. Jerash is a city in Jordan, north of the capital Amman. Inhabited since the Bronze Age, it is known for the ruins of the walled Greco-Roman settlement of Gerasa just outside the modern city.
