History & Heritage - Group Itinerary to South Africa
DAY 1 - CAPE TOWN
On arrival in Cape Town, you will be met by a Lion World Travel representative at the Cape Town Airport and transferred to the 4 star Commodore Hotel just a short walk from the vibrant Waterfront.
During your stay at the Commodore Hotel, enjoy a complimentary dinner at the hotel’s Clipper Restaurant.

DAY 2 - CAPE TOWN
Depart on a full day Bo-Kaap and Robben Island Tour.
Visit the District Six Museum in the former inner-city residential area where maps and photographs are reminders of the life on this once-vibrant suburb. View the colorful homes of the Bo-Kaap in the Malay Quarter, where you can enjoy a Samosa Making Experience with Fayruza. This experience includes a spice tutorial, how to mix masalas and how to fold and fill samosas and make chili bites.
Transfer to board the ferry for the boat ride to Robben Island, home to Nelson Mandela for so many years, it is a highly charged and emotional moment when you visit this site and realize how far South Africa has come from those days.

Today is at leisure for independent exploration or our Africa Specialists will assist in planning and arranging sightseeing tours to suit your interests.

DAY 4 - CAPE TOWN
Spend another day at leisure. You can visit the 4 larger-than-life bronze statues standing pensively in the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront’s Nobel Square, dedicated to South Africa’s 4 Nobel Peace Prize laureates. Chief Albert Luthuli, Anglican Archbishop Emeritus Desmond Tutu, FW de Klerk (South Africa’s last apartheid president) and the late, legendary Nelson Mandela.
This evening dinner will be at Bo-Kaap Kombuis. You will be joined by Christo Brand, who was Nelson Mandela's prison warden on Robben Island for many years. You will also receive a signed copy of his book Doing Life with Mandela: My Prisoner, My Friend.

DAY 5 - CAPE TOWN/JOHANNESBURG
Transfer to Cape Town Airport for your flight to Johannesburg. You will be met and transferred to the 4 star DAVINCI Hotel and Suites on Nelson Mandela Square.
Styled in chic black and white with work from famous South African artists, it is a place of exceptional beauty in the hub of world class shopping and dining.

DAY 6 - JOHANNESBURG
Today is a day of leisure to do some shopping or visit a few places of interest.

DAY 7 - JOHANNESBURG
Depart on a full day Journey to Freedom Tour which shares some of the journey, pain, and struggle of those heroes; witness the places, experience the diverse museums where these momentous, tumultuous years have been so well documented.
Visit the Hector Pieterson Museum, before traveling past Mandela House, where you have the option of visiting this small museum (own account). The next stop is Regina Mundi Church, site of so many of the underground meetings of the then banned political parties.
Have lunch in Soweto at a local restaurant (own account), before visiting the Apartheid Museum for a multimedia experience, with documentary film snippets, texts, sound clips of life in the dark days of apartheid.

Day 8 - Johannesburg / Pilanesberg
Transfer by road from your hotel to Bakubung Bush Lodge in the malaria-free Pilanesberg National Park. This region is home to a diversity of wildlife.
Nestled in the Pilanesberg National Park, Bakubung Bush Lodge offers a peaceful retreat. On-site features include a swimming pool, tennis courts, and easy access to game drives into the reserve. Dine in style at the on-site restaurant, enjoy the bush barbecues offered at the outdoor boma and relax at the bar.

Day 9 - Pilanesberg National Park
Depart on exciting game drives in an open safari vehicle with your experienced rangers who will share their extensive knowledge of the bush with you.
The remainder of your afternoon is at leisure until the afternoon game drive departs. In between game drives you could relax, relishing the tranquility of the bush before or take the shuttle over to Sun City.

Day 10 - Pilanesberg National Park
Make the most of your last day game viewing. The Pilanesberg National Park is the fourth largest national park in the country and home to a large selection of animal and bird life including Lion, Elephant, Rhino, Buffalo and Leopard.
