Droughts have caused an increase in hippos needing to be cared for at the Shamwari Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. A new dam and Boma improvements were needed, enabling the hippos to recover in a natural environment. They can now enjoy a good wallow, and get ready to be released back into the wild. |
What you eat is often overlooked when it comes to conservation. Created with the World Wildlife Foundation, SASSI is the South African Sustainable Seafood Initiative. The Table Bay Hotel follows these sustainability guidelines in their seafood dishes, such as this fish and squid ink pasta dish. |
Onguma offers the local community the opportunity of having meaningful and productive lives by allowing them to economically benefit from operations based on the Onguma Reserve by providing jobs. Oshivelo Farming employs 180 locals on a permanent basis, of which 80% are women. |

Contest Rules an Prize Details: The prize can be booked for dates between 30 June 2021 and 30 November 2022, and is subject to availability. The validity period may not be extended, and the prize may not be transferred or exchanged for cash. It may not be taken over long weekends, during peak holiday periods or public holidays. The prize does not include international airfare, domestic airfare or any transport to and from the lodge. One entry will be selected from all entries by a panel of Lion World Travel judges. Entries will be judged on responses to "Why do you want to visit Africa" with preference given to inspiring, funny and creative entries. There is no limit on entries. Participants are encouraged to watch the We Love Africa Video Series, however the number of videos watched does not impact chances of winning. Participants agree that their names, stories and contest entry details may be used in any future marketing and promotional efforts by Lion World Travel. The prize includes a three night stay for two people at Xigera Safari Lodge, one 21” Ecolite Heys Luggage and one 5 pc set of Ecotex Packing Cubes, with a combined total value of $15,000USD. The winner must book their Xigera Safari Lodge vacation directly with Lion World Travel. Contest period runs from 6 May 2021 to 31 May 2021. Prize winner will be chosen by 20 June 2021. Winner will be contacted by email, and their name will be published on the contest landing page. Grand Prize must be booked by 31 October 2021, for travel by 30 November 2022.
